Short, plain-English definitions of the terms you'll hear at a consultation.

AI beauty simulator: An AI beauty simulator is a tool that edits a photo of your face to preview how a cosmetic treatment might look, changing only the treated area so you can compare before and after. It is a visual guide, not a medical prediction.
Baby Botox: Baby Botox is an informal name for using smaller amounts of anti-wrinkle injections to soften lines while keeping more natural facial movement. It gives a subtler result than a standard dose.
Botox: Botox is a brand name for botulinum toxin type A, an injectable medicine that temporarily relaxes targeted muscles. In aesthetics it is used to soften expression lines such as forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet. Results typically last a few months.
Dermal filler: Dermal filler is an injectable gel, most often made of hyaluronic acid, used to add volume or definition to areas such as the lips, cheeks, chin and jawline. Most hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary.
Hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the skin that holds water. In aesthetics it is the main ingredient in most dermal fillers, which the body gradually breaks down over months.
Hyaluronidase: Hyaluronidase is an enzyme a qualified practitioner can inject to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler, for example to correct an unwanted result or treat a complication.
Lip flip: A lip flip is a treatment that uses a small amount of anti-wrinkle injection above the upper lip so the lip rolls outward slightly and shows more when you smile. It does not add volume.
Liquid rhinoplasty: A liquid rhinoplasty, or non-surgical nose job, uses dermal filler to camouflage bumps or improve the nose's profile. It cannot make the nose smaller and results are temporary.
Masseter Botox: Masseter Botox is an anti-wrinkle injection into the masseter (chewing) muscle. By relaxing the muscle it can gradually slim a wide lower face, and it is sometimes used for teeth grinding.
Russian lips: Russian lips is a lip filler technique that aims for a flatter profile with more height in the centre of the lips, rather than forward projection.
